Plan for return to on-site instruction

Effective June 2, 2020

We wanted to reach out and give a few updates as we transition back to on-site services. The CDC updated their guidance for school reopening. We have carefully reviewed their recommendations and have developed our return procedures. You can review our procedures here

Our building is having a deep cleaning prior to our return. To help everyone know what to expect, we will send you a video walk-through in the coming days.

 Items to send to school:

  • Include two masks in a ziploc bag with your child’s name on it in your child’s backpack. Or, if your child is able to wear a mask upon arrival, please send one additional mask in a labeled ziploc bag.
  • Send snacks/lunches that do not need to be refrigerated or heated. At this time, we anticipate that we will not be able to use the microwave or fridge. Students will eat meals in their zoned areas to limit contact. You can pack cold foods and individually packaged snacks, a thermos for foods that you want to keep hot (pre-heat before leaving home). Use ice packs to keep items cold as needed.
  • Include bottled water (suggestion:32-48 oz a day) for the day. Insulated cups with lids can help water stay cold if needed. We will not be using a common water filter or water dispenser at this time.

 Regarding arrival and dismissal:

  • We will enter through the double doors in the middle of the building for individual temperature checks and check in as early as 7:55 am. Please stay in your car. Your child will also need to stay in the car until the teacher who will be with your child helps him/her get checked in.
  • Please pull out of the car line once you are ready to go to keep the travel flow going.
  • We will dismiss from the lobby with only 1 staff and 1 child in the lobby at a time beginning at 2:30pm.
  • To keep the flow of traffic moving, we won’t be able to chat at these times. Please email us or text the school phone as needed.

Virtual learning options:

  • We want parents to do what they feel is best. The safety and health of our students and staff is our top priority. If at any time you decide you would like your child to transition to virtual services, please know we will do our best to accommodate this. Please know there may be a waiting period while we arrange staffing.
  • During the school day we will periodically offer students opportunities to practice appropriate online learning and behaviors, as this is an important emerging life skill.
